The importance of alcohol consumption as a risk factor for diseases and injuries and related mortality has been repeatedly confirmed by numerous scientific studies. The treatment of acute and chronic wounds in alcohol-impaired patients poses a significant challenge to clinical practice

Patients with diabetes and a foot ulcer are best cared for at a multidisciplinary specialist clinic to enable as many as possible to heal without amputation. However, it is all too common that many patients return with a new ulcer within a year or two on the same or on the contralateral foot [1, 2]. To support these patients trying to reduce new ulceration, some measures are recommended

Blepharoplasty is a procedure aimed at correcting the eyelids and restoring the proper tension to the skin of the eyelids. Indications for the procedure can be divided into cosmetic, which result in visual rejuvenation of the patient, and functional, which are aimed at improving functioning. The procedure is commonly performed with Vicryl, polypropylene, nylon, fast-absorbing sutures or cyanoacrylate tissue adhesives. The most commonly used surgical suturing techniques include interrupted cutaneous, running cutaneous and subcutaneous continuous. The procedure can cause side effects, the most serious of which is intraorbital hemorrhage, which can lead to loss of vision.

The ways to shorten the healing time of hard to heal wounds are still being sought. A prolonged inflammatory phase stops the healing process. The combination of hyaluronic acid and amino acids such as lysine, proline, leucine and glycine, which have unique wound-promoting properties, can be successfully used in the treatment of hard to heal wounds by accelerating the granulation process and reducing inflammation.

The aim of the study was to systematise the principles of care provided to patients with anal abscesses and fistulas based on the tenets of patient-centred care.
The mainstay of treatment for anal abscesses and fistulas is surgery. The choice of therapy depends, among other factors, on the patient’s clinical condition and the location and course of the fistula tract in relation to the sphincters and other anatomical structures. When considering a therapeutic approach, patients’ preferences play an important role. After assessing the balance between treatment benefits and potential risks of complications, some patients choose to forgo radical surgical intervention and instead opt to live with an active fistula treated with a loose seton alone.

Treating hard-to-heal wounds in the post-pandemic period is an even more significant global challenge than before. Problematic contact with medical staff during the pandemic, including reduced visits to treatment rooms or the patient’s home and postponed scheduled surgical procedures, have contributed to the deterioration of patients’ health, including hard-to-heal wounds. There is currently a lack of statistics on lower limb amputations and data on deaths indirectly related to patient deterioration, such as from ascending infection and sepsis.
