Dear Readers,
this issue of our journal opens with an editorial reporting on an exciting initiative that the Polish Wound Management Association has been thinking and working on recently. Finally, on 9 October 2024, a meeting took place in Warsaw, where an agreement for professional wound therapy was decided. This is a landmark moment in the history of wound treatment in Poland. This is a landmark moment in the history of wound treatment in Poland. The signatories of this agreement believe that it will open a new chapter in the management of wounds that are difficult to heal, not only in terms of their diagnosis and treatment but, above all, in the creation of a new structure and function of an interdisciplinary approach in this field of medicine.
The issue contains several interesting papers, two of which I recommend. The first concerns skin tears, which are very common in our daily practice and difficult to treat. Dr Katarzyna Cierzniakowska’s team’s principles of prevention are worthy of attention and recommendation. In many situations, they allow this problem to be avoided; if it does occur, they show how to deal with it.
Speaking of prevention, another article I recommended, which talks about prehabilitation in patients qualified for surgery, fits in perfectly with this new strategy for obtaining better results in wound treatment.
Educational issues in wound care are very topical these days. The question arises: How do we teach new generations of medical staff about wound management? Are the old methods sufficient, or should other forms be introduced in the age of artificial intelligence? An article about the use of simulated wounds provides a partial answer to these and other questions in this field. It is an interesting proposal that has already been scientifically developed.
Please read the articles described above and the others, trusting that this edition of Wound Healing will be one you will receive well.
