Dear Readers,
This is yet another issue of our journal featuring an editorial written by our foreign editorial committee member. This time, Prof. Magdalena Annersten Gershater, a highly regarded nurse and lecturer from Malmö University in Sweden, has accepted the invitation. Her vast, long-standing experience in wound management, especially of the diabetic foot, translates into numerous publications recognised in the scientific community. In the current issue, Prof. Gershater shares her latest research results from a randomised study published in 2023 on recurrent ulcers in patients with diabetic foot. Interestingly, even in a country that is one of the leaders in modern wound care, recurrent ulcers are a problem, and some of the issues the author of this article writes about are very similar to those in our country. The role of education and good care are still valid requirements for avoiding recurrent ulcers.
Another paper on osseointegration corresponds excellently with the editorial. This term describes the fusion of living bone with an implant, which carries a better and longer-lasting effect of the performed amputation. Moreover, amputees report significant improvements in function, comfort, balance, proprioception, and even emotional connection to the limb. Seeing that these state-of-the-art procedures are already being performed in our country is gratifying.
I wish you a pleasant reading of the new issue of “Leczenie Ran | Polish Journal of Wound Management”.
On behalf of the Editorial Committee and Scientific
Council of the “Leczenie Ran | Polish Journal
of Wound Management”
