LECZENIE RAN 2023; 20 (4)

Od Redakcji | From the Editor

Dear Readers,

The last issue of “Leczenie Ran | Polish Journal Wound Management” in 2023, which is being handed over to you today, concludes an excellent change for our journal. The year 2023 was marked by a change of publisher, the introduction of new (including international) members of the Scientific Council, and the decision to publish our journal in an English-language version. These changes should translate into greater visibility for the journal and the possibility of attracting papers from our region, sharing experiences and promoting our achievements in chronic wound management.

The current issue is mainly devoted to wound hygiene and antiseptics in daily practice. It begins with a short editorial written by Professor Harikrishna K.R. Nair of Malaysia, President-Elect of the World Union of Wound Healing Societies and organiser of the 2026 WUWHS Congress in Kuala Lumpur. In it, Professor Nair refers to a recently published paper he initiated and co-authored, “Use of wound antiseptics in practice”. This is an exciting compendium of knowledge gathering up-to-date knowledge on recognising wound infections, using appropriate antiseptic preparations and medications, and how to clean wounds. Based on this document and the latest scientific reports, a team led by Prof. Maciej Sopata prepared the PTLR position paper on antimicrobial management of colonised wounds, with features of infection and risk of infection in the era of antibiotic resistance. This is yet another guideline prepared by our Society this year, which is ideally in line with the current topic of wound management but also adds to the knowledge on the subject.

I wish you a pleasant reading of the articles in this issue, a joyful and peaceful Christmas, and the fulfilment of all your dreams in 2024.

On behalf of the Editorial Committee and Scientific
Council of the “Leczenie Ran | Polish Journal
of Wound Management”
