LECZENIE RAN 2023; 20 (3)

Od Redakcji | From the Editor

Dear Readers,

The current issue of “Leczenie Ran | Polish Journal of Wound Management” is an exciting publication with interesting articles, not only from our country. The editorial was written by Prof. D.G. Armstrong, highlighting numerous advances in diagnosing and treating diabetic foot and emerging new directions in this field. Please read this short article and reach out to the original paper published in JAMA in the first half of this year. It is a beautiful, comprehensive knowledge with many new aspects of diabetic foot management.

With great satisfaction and pleasure, I recommend the Polish Wound Management Association position paper on larval therapy in patients with chronic wounds in Poland. It appears to be the first publication in the world literature, so in the absence of a similar position in foreign journals, this study may gain recognitionoutside Poland. Another review paper by Prof. D. Bazaliński’s team, which discusses the useof larval therapy in a specific clinical situation, in this case, in the treatment of diabetic foot, which fits in perfectly with this issue. This article corresponds well with the earlier editorial paper by Prof. D.G. Armstrong and points to the fact that larval therapy has the potential to reduce antibiotic administration and treatment times and may ultimately reduce the number of amputations.

Reading the other papers brings us closer to understanding the microbial flora in lower limb ulcers and the role of tissue banks in regenerative medicine. These are two distant topics, but in managing chronic wounds, we deal with them daily, and knowledge of them is not only practical but also should be continually deepened.

I sincerely believe that the latest “Leczenie Ran | Polish Journal of Wound Management” issue will meet your scientific and clinical expectations.

On behalf of the Editorial Committee and Scientific
Council of the “Leczenie Ran | Polish Journal
